Hey there.  I'm a average player I guess, I've been paintballing for a few years, and originally owned a Spyder Xtra.  When it broke I just started renting and am now considering getting a new gun.  I'm not a real serious or professional baller and know very little about the inner workings of guns and all that, save for what I've read online.  But everything I am reading is pretty much pointing me in the direction of an Ion XE.  I know it is relatively easy to clean via the B.O.B. and that it is one of the better, cheaper electric guns out there.  So is this a good buy for me?

Some additional facts about me:
I play at Nimitz when I do go.
I usually like to rush
I never really cared for pumps, so that's why I'm considering getting the XE

So, yeah, hopefully you can give me some tips, thanks guys.

What is your price range? Any features you absolutely must have?
What accessories do you already have (tank, hopper, etc)?

Well, I figure that I don't play enough to pour tons of cash into it, but I want to have something reliable, 400 is what I'm looking at for my max.  Uhmm, I think my hopper and tank are still in working condition, but I'm going to have to check and get back to you later today, gotta head off to school. Tongue  Uhmmm, you don't think its really necessary to buy the whole getup and stuff do you?  I mean, I usually just play t-shirt and jeans, just wondering about your opinion.

Edit: Yeah, I found my old hopper, its aEVLution II Viewloader, gotta change out the batteries to see if it works though Wink

Are they easy to maintain?  Like I said, I'm kind of a nub with the whole deal.  I'm gonna go check these out and see if any of them appeal to me. Wink

Edit: Do you mean buying a used G3, Mini, and DM5? Or just the Ego 5. Okay, I get that the DM5 is probably going to be used because, I think, DM5 stands for Dye Marker '05. LOL  Grin

Okay, I got a question for you, I've been looking at these pictures of the Mini, and I'm just wondering straight off the bat is playing with the Mini comfortable? Because it looks like to me that the front grip is uncomfortably close to the trigger guard.  What do you guys think?

Alright, I've pretty much gone over a few pbreview.com reviews for each gun and they are all very well liked.  Now, making a decision I think is going to have to come down to actually holding each of these guns and seeing if they feel right.  So, is there a specific store I can check out to kind of get a feel for each of these different guns?  Do you guys have any other pointers for me?  Thanks for the list of guns meejacob!  It's nice to see that some friendly local people are nice enough to help out a relatively n00bish baller.   Cheesy

I'd recommend out of the list of markers you got so far and if you can find it, the ego5, or the g3. The dm, too many orings, the mini, can only customize so much to your liking, don't get me wrong, both are great guns. But out of the list, I'd go with the ego.

Yeah, from what I can tell people were falling in love with it left and right.  I'm not gonna make a decision until I actually get to hold it and get a feel for it, but the ego is my first choice right now.

Thats why i posted those Markes cause you really dont have to customize them seeing as they are already bad ass Markers. I know that Frank has Mini's and G3's at his shop so you can try go there to hold them. His shop is Brothers Paintball # is 808-723-5969. And either way your gonna wana buy a Oring kit for the gun anyway just incase. Always gotta be prepared. Good luck!

Thanks,
Jacob

Mini is up there too, I think it'd be pretty sick with a small hopper and a smaller gas tank.  That way its easier to rush up. Haha, its just an idea though. Tongue

Oh! And I'm thinking about stopping by Brothers on friday, I google mapped it and it shows two locations, Waipahu and Mapunapuna St which is the right one?
