as fas as binding.  the channel in the back is the same size as my current setup.  i could chamfer it or make it more conical.  the center hole is the threaded cocking rod hole used to attach the back weight.

my goal weight is ~57.85 grams  according to your weights and measures project that is the total weight of the stock CCM hammer and cocking rod.

as far as brass goes i was thinking of doing maybe a brass or copper core with a sst case for wear issues.  i dont think i will have issues with the pin impacting the back of the slot.  i use a delrin bolt pin.  but a full sst hammer will reach the goal weight of 57.85.  so i could make the back weight smaller making the channel wider.

koa if i do a balanced valve should i bias it open, closed or make it equal?

whats the difference?

i was thinking something similar to the angel valve you showed me once.  a stem to the pin with another piston with oring.

yeah angel would be inline, perfect for pumps

the other is the Empire/Lucky style

i tried to make one but i never got to it right
i just learned how to make a line and offset the line in AutoCAD so i was again procrastinating

but the only question is what valve to balance
new stock .310
old stock .250
AKA etc

the balancing will make tuning for a quiet shot really easy, so then the only question is what psi and efficiency you want to get

talking to sonny lopez at the OSC he said the cocker/sniper balanced valve lucky was developing was really quiet, but i dont know exactly why besides less of a pop from the stem pusing the hammer back hard

oh another thing i noticed
i put an empire promaster balanced valve into my B2K
while i couldnt tell if i got a lower LPR psi due to the stems length being longer(hence increasing spring force)
when i got a spring that seemed to be as light as the springs i used with shorter stemed valves i got a 10 psi drop in PSI
from 55 to 45

but the 45 psi force is too light and odd shaped or sized paint will not push into the barrel so when i raised it i would get a venting sounding shot, of a long dwell time

also the cycle smoothed up a lot
i would really like to test hammer weights with mine to see if its more based on a dwell time, and if its the weight or the psi that opens it

sorry for the ramble

oh an S6 guide

want one without the fluting?

i want to use a bigger Dia guide and push the bigger ID as far back as possible
another good thing is that if you use a set screw with a hole to hold in the valve spring in the guide you can adjust valve spring tension very precisely and probably get it really perfect

yeah i ll take one with out the fluting if you got.  i mainly started just to shave some weight.

as far as a valve spring how light are you thinking?

ill call mel get one...or 2 Smiley

well when i got the empire valve i wanted a spring that was as light as the other valves
so i would start with the same tension

but if you make the guide hold the spring and have it changeable from the front you could test any valve spring you want in a matter of minutes

it would also be fun to take chrono readings why adjusting the spring, you might not get a drop in FPS so your lowering dwell and get a increase of efficiency

and it would be like how i tune pumps for a quiet shot with psi and mainspring but instead just using the valve and keeping the mainspring as light as possible
