Thumbs up Finally a field should be coming to Maui. I have been trying to create a paintball field on Maui for over 9 years and I finally have my day in the planning department. It will be located in Olowalu in a large grove of trees near the tomato farm right along the Honoapiilani highway, on ten acres. The planning department requires you to write a book full of studies, maps, and department statements before they will hear your case and it costs lots and lots of money. Now here is where I need you, while I will be creating a petition and leaving it at island hobbies for you all to sign, it will help to have well spoken influential people testify on the behalf of paintball on Nov 22nd. People like firemen, police, politicians, teachers, environmentalists, or the like are welcome to come to the Maui planning department on November 22nd to have their voices heard. The field is known as Maui Paintball and will feature three woodsball fields and have ample parking, rental markers, kamaaina rates, bathrooms, and shaded seating. Please feel free to contact me by posting here with any questions on how you can help.

Heres the latest, the 22nd fast approaches and as of now we do not have any people that have filed an opposition and the planning department is recommending approval so we are looking like a green light. If you would like to help out you can do a few things. First you can show up at the Maui Planning Department around 9:00am on the 22nd and wait around for a couple hours (as there are two other projects in front of me) so you can testify for less then 3 minutes (they place a max time limit). Second you can go down to Island Hobbies in the next three days and sign the petition. Three you can write a letter stating how super awesome paintball is and how it kept you and your baby off "the drugs." If you do write a letter start off with:

Please accept my testimony for November 22nd’s hearing.

To the Maui Planning Department Committee Members.

I am in support of the “Proposed Maui Paintball Field And Related Improvements At TMK: (2) 4-8-003: 113 & 114”

Then talk about why and the benefits of a safe insured fun recreational activity. Then end with name, address, and signature.

Then PM me and I will give you my email address and you can send it to me or drop it off at Island Hobbies.

Or finally go HERE HERE HERE and do the online signature.

And be sure to stay tuned for field updates and videos. We will start having field visit days in the next couple of weeks for the curious but no playing till netting and insurance.

We got approval for the paintball field! I wanted to thank everyone who signed the petition, wrote letters, and especially showed up for the hearing. One of the ladies was amazed at how much community support there was for this project and she said that it was the most she had ever seen. For all of those who wanted to view the field we will have a preview of the field this Sunday between 10am and 12pm. Go to the trash drop off in Olowalu and turn right as indicated by the photo below. I look forward to hearing your suggestions on how we should build the field. Unfortunately the will be no shooting at the field until the netting and insurance is in place, so please leave your guns at home
