I lived on Ohau from when I was born until I was 12, it was the 80s.

I lived on Paani St just on the other side of Ala Wai Canal from Waikiki.   I went to Ala Wai Elementary, and my brother and sister went to Washington High.   My friends and I used to cross Ala Wai Canal on our surfboards and boogie boards to surf Waikiki beach every day, It was the double break with the concrete pier that goes out into the water.   Last time I was there 2001 I surfed that spot and Japanese girls were there SHREDDING!

I remember going to Hanauma Bay every sunday, we used to hike all the way around the left side to the "toilet bowl" and hang out.  It used to be so alive, the reef, the keyhole, everything.

Everywhere you went it smelled like rotten fruit certain parts of the year.  We would walk two blocks down our street eating fruits (Mango, Guava, "Japanese strawberry" etc.) off the trees in the neighborhood and we would be full brah!

I remember the public Skatepark on the far side of Chinatown, I remember Cobra skateshop.   I remember Wallows! I can tell you exactly how to get there.  But the state demolished the legendary spot due to skating injuries happening too high up in the valley.

I remember one summer I took summer school, and it was surfing class.  We would spend mon, tue, wed studying one particular surfing spot.  And on Friday we jumped into the van and went and surfed that spot.

I remember Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana Park and Magic Island!   I remember the Samoan gangs fighting the Tongan gangs in the public parks.   It would be like 30 vs 30 and spill out into the streets.

The Hawaiian sweet bread from Kings bakery???   We have that same bread here in Florida now!

I remember groups of 50+ seniors doing Tai Chi in the public parks all the time.  I remember hearing the Chinese monks drums every day at 6 pm.  The sound traveled through my neighborhood.

I remember the Chinese Dragons running through the streets and malls on Chinese new year.

I remember the amazing fishing, the fresh fish, CHEAP SUSHI!   I REMEMBER SPAM MUSUBI!!!!! I still make it.

I remember hiking up into the valleys, and finding ancient Hawaiian burial grounds, and leaving a rock wrapped in a Ti leaf for respect.

I remember all my old friends, I hear they are all married with kids now.  Meh just not for me i guess.

I've played paintball since 1989, quit in 1995.  It was pumps, my Phantom was my favorite.  Then I played from 2000 to 2006. I played Xball PSP up to D2 on various teams notably Docs Raiders based out of Jacksonville FL. We did very well and used to play and beat D1 and pro teams with regularity.    Now its 2010 and i've dusted off the guns and getting into pball yet again lol.  This time im going back to the roots, building some cockers, buying another phantom.  Oh yeah and a new Planet Eclipse Geo 2 haha.   Gonna do some light NPPL stuff and definitely hit some of these great Florida scenarios.

Last time I was there in 2001 keep in mind I was all into Xball type speedball, fast guns the whole nine.  Well I went to a Paintball field over by the Airport and Pearl harbor.   Instead of grass it was red dirt! but they had air bunkers.  Almost everybody had pumps and I was like, what the hell?  lol.

My Momma still owns two condos in Makiki, near my old house.  Maybe one day i'll move back....

Thanks for taking the time to read my little story.
